Candidates must be able to remain completely non-verbal for extended periods (the record being seven consecutive days) and possess the mental fortitude to handle their “sudden disappearance from the world,” as described by one Phantom. This strict discipline shapes their movements, enhancing their speed, stealth, and killer instincts. Due to their unique traits, some Phantoms are shunned or misunderstood by their fellow Ascendants, making them social outsiders.
