Umbric Abilities

Undoubtedly one of the most powerful Umbric Abilities, Stepping is a difficult feat practiced only by highly skilled Quaestors.

The Umbric skill of projecting one’s consciousness into another person’s mind is both desired and reviled among Quaestors. With sufficient training, a Stepper can control their target’s body like a puppeteer; highly accomplished Steppers can achieve this without the Stepped-in person ever realizing what happened.A Stepper has access to their target’s memories and can thus use this skill to perform Umbric espionage, planting, erasing, or simply gaining information. Unsurprisingly, many Quaestors train to defend themselves against Stepping attacks. They must also be on alert for the only outward sign that a friend or ally is a Step-in: the victim’s eye color usually changes that of their attacker.
