Colleagues sometimes tease Buchra for preferring the company of contraptions and technical manuals rather than flesh and blood. After all, people are awkward and last she checked, LYS machinery doesn’t require insipid chitchat. Back in Paris, it was her Ethiopian mother who exposed her to the sciences at an early age. She remembered clipping articles of Madame Marie Curie from every newspaper she could get her hands on. Applying her unmatched work ethic to a meticulous education, she easily became the youngest woman in France ever to complete a dual degree in engineering and classical mechanics.Buchra feels indebted to Luther for having arranged their meeting in Casablanca many years back. An offer to join the Leap Year Society was apparent: Which other promising genius could produce such fresh theories to complement the society’s own understanding of the Fold? Not all post-graduates stand for hours in the Moroccan desert at night, transfixed by the complexities of space using their custom-made Cassegrain telescope. Much like the Sahin of antiquity, Buchra believes in a cosmic order to the universe; the prospect of finding such a phenomenon makes her heart beat quicker! &nbsp;

Sneaking into Quinta Matos, the luxurious country estate of the brilliant inventor and Ascendant, Dr. Emilio Matos, Luther and Haroona uncover&lt;sp&gt; evidence that not only is Reika alive, but that she was held captive here prior. But to what end?&lt;/sp&gt; Exploring the estate reveals Matos latest invention, a cutting-edge machine that &lt;sp&gt;seemingly enhances a Diver’s ability to descend deeper into the Fold known as a Tethering Capsule. &nbsp;But for what purpose has Matos built this? How does it connect to Reika?&lt;/sp&gt;

Quinta Matos: Signs of Life

Chapter 7, Part 1

Haroona being inside Quinta Matos is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Dr. Matos' machines for Diving. &lt;sp&gt;By acquiring Matos' journal, Buchra can gain rare insight into the Ascendant inventor's mind and possibly how his creations work.&lt;/sp&gt;

Haroona and Luther trek across the steep canyons and narrow gorges of Anatolia before reaching an underground chamber dating back to the Sahin era. Haroona uses her amulet to unlock the Cambrian device, triggering an Echo revealing &lt;sp&gt;her mentor as one of the Unknown 9.&lt;/sp&gt;Bringing their discovery above ground their progress is quickly stunted as &lt;sp&gt;Reika appears before them, having joined forces with the Ascendants. She claims the Cambrian device for Vincent’s cause and leaves a gobsmacked Haroona along with Luther and Buchra to be taken prisoner upon the Morning Star. &lt;/sp&gt;

Chapter 9

&lt;sp&gt;Haroona and Luther are on the cusp of bringing the Cambrian device back to The Morning Star when Reika steps into Buchra's body, thereby ambushing her friends and stealing the device at the last second. Afterwards, Buchra is totally distraught at her actions and blames herself for this major setback.&lt;/sp&gt;

Known today as the "Eye of Africa" the Sahin may have referred to this sacred location as “Dasuden, the radiant” or the “oasis of culture.” Thousands of years ago, this area was recorded in various scripture fragments to be a capital city of political importance, featuring a breathtaking skyline of towering structures. From the samples of formed clay and carved stone found under tons of sediment, Dasuden must have supported bustling industry and commerce.

In the ruins of Dasuden, Buchra witnesses &lt;sp&gt;Mila deliver a severe blow to Luther. Although she is concerned about her long-time friend and doesn't want to leave him behind, she accepts that Luther can no longer go on. With no choice left, she enters the Oculus with Haroona in order to complete the mission.&lt;/sp&gt;

&lt;sp&gt;Reika’s body, inert and dreamless inside the tethering capsule, is now safely aboard the Morning Star. Heeding her mentor’s last words, Haroona and Buchra find themselves dropped in the humid jungle expanse of Central Africa.&lt;/sp&gt; For countless centuries, no one has disturbed the lost complex of Reithden... until now. &lt;sp&gt;Haroona is afforded a precious farewell with Reika, at least in the guise of Buchra, before entering the Sahin city ruins. Outside the wondrous conclave hall, Haroona parts from Buchra and takes her first steps in joining the Unknown 9.&lt;/sp&gt;

Chapter 13

Buchra's &lt;sp&gt;body is used a medium for Reika to communicate with Haroona one last time. After Reika steps out of Buchra, she wishes her friend Haroona well on her journey towards a new life.&lt;/sp&gt;

Infinitus. That’s the motto inscribed on the Leap Year Society’s circular seal. It means boundless, unending—like the quest for knowledge. For well over a century, the LYS has been on that journey, uncovering forgotten parts of history and pushing the limits of scientific inquiry to understand humanity’s role in the cosmos. &nbsp; &nbsp;The LYS is founded in New York City on February 29, 1888, welcoming people of all nations and creeds to join its search. The only requirements for membership are the thirst for knowledge and a willingness to believe in the Unknown. But for decades, the Society itself remains veiled in secrecy, visible only to those who know where to look.&nbsp;

The Leap Year Society

Luther realized the potential of young Buchra's brilliant mind to understanding the way the Fold works and creating the machines to aid this understanding. Buchra was quickly inducted into The Leap Year Society in order to help solve the mystery of the Unknown 9 and a decipher millennia of Sahin technology artifacts.&nbsp;

Luther may be one of the last cowboys to roam the dusty heartland of America. He is also a proud Quaestor, reminding himself every day like a mantra to continue fighting for its continued heritage. Welcomed as a small child he was raised by the Lakota people where he grew a deep love and respect for the ground beneath his feet, the stars within the sky, and the energy that flowed between the two.As the prairies fell further and further to the churn of "progress", Luther sought others that believed as he did, that our past must not be railroaded over – that knowledge was at risk of being wiped from the earth – that our humanity was at risk. &nbsp;As he searched for like- minded individuals he was welcomed into a small gathering, a handful who sought the same end goals as he but who also believed there was more than just our realm hanging in the balance. &nbsp;Luther, ever the outsider, felt like he had found his people, and together they would form The Leap Year Society, dedicating their lives towards preserving the knowledge they knew of, discovering what has been lost, and seeking the knowledge of tomorrow. This new mission in life brought Luther from the brink of despair after having suffered great personal loss. However, if he ever feels down, it only takes two shots of whiskey and his signature folksy sarcasm to steer this cowboy back on the right trail.

Luther Goodwin

Luther works closely with Buchra for what they consider as possibly the "final LYS mission" in hunting for Vincent and the Ascendants in order to stop whatever twisted plans he has conceived of.The pair compliment one another, compensating for each other's strengths and weaknesses. But the most important aspect is the undying respect and admiration they for one another. For it was Luther who first realized potential in Buchra at a young age.
