Amina’s expertise is put to good use in the LYS, and she is thrilled to learn so much from her peers. Among other things, she has learned a great deal about spycraft, deception, how to lead a double life. Being in a secret society demands it, especially when you get tasked with retrieving priceless artifacts from the hands of dubious collectors. Amina finds this new double life of hers terrifying, but exhilarating.&nbsp;

The Morning Star

Upon boarding the Morning Star, Amina takes responsibility for all the priceless antiquities that Vincent has stashed on board, mainly in the lavish mid-ship museum.

As a child Amina relied on the past to escape from the present. Be it in books or museums, she was spellbound by depictions of humanity’s ancient past and by stories of our origins. She began creating increasingly elaborate faux-historical artifacts—like a few shards of pottery she fashioned into a mosaic from a Minoan palace, some rough crayon pictograms drawn on a scrap of yellowing paper she swore was linked to a magical Buddhist text, or a rusted shard of medal she presented as the spear of a great emperor. She curated the objects into her own personal museum, and gave her brother Thomas guided tours in exchange for sweets. It was just one of the ways they found brightness in a home that was oft darkened by the shadow of their father's anger.Her childhood games became her livelihood as she worked for numerous museums. Her practice of seeking out history’s hidden narratives and forgotten peoples caught the attention of the LYS in their first years. She lent the LYS her historical acumen and in return she drank deeply of her peers’ insightful theories about the Sahin, and of tales of the Fold.&nbsp; How often she wished she could have comforted her 6-year-old self by telling her about a wondrous hidden dimension where all of history is poised to spring to life...
