These journeys fostered her sense of wonder and curiosity about the world, and ignited a passion to probe the limits of human potential.&nbsp;Eventually, aviation became another avenue for her to express this passion. It was her reputation as a trailblazing pilot that first caught the attention of Millicent Harper and the rest of the Leap Year Society. From their first meeting, it was clear that Astrid and the Society shared a commitment to exploration and discovery, and Astrid soon joined their ranks, becoming their first official airship pilot.&nbsp;
