Shade Bracers are a tool used to build up and focus Am so that Umbric abilities are channeled properly. In addition to strengthening some abilities, Shade Bracers could also be used to enable new ones.

Certainly, one of the most intriguing and powerful Sahin artifacts ever encountered by the LYS are the Shade bracers. In the right hands—Haroona's, for instance—these bracers enable the wearer to focus one’s Am, or perhaps channel it directly from the Fold. That Am is then accessible to the wearer, enabling a wider range and intensity of Umbric abilities.It is theorized that bracers could be more like multipurpose tools than just strictly weapons; a focused and abundant source of Am could enable a wide range of Umbric abilities that are as yet unknown. Did the Sahin use these tools for a variety of functions, like construction, healthcare, or communication? Were they an upgradeable, multipurpose platform?

While pursuing an old pupil of Reika’s named Vincent Lichter across the desert of the Richat Structure, Haroona unexpectedly confronts a mysterious faction calling themselves the Ascendants. She witnesses her mentor mercilessly cut down by Vincent before a raging sandstorm separates them forever.

When rubble in blocks the way forward for Haroona and her mentor, Reika decides&lt;sp&gt; her protege is ready to wield the power of the Shade bracers. Humbled, Haroona dons them, clears the rubble from their path, and quietly notes that this is the beginning of &lt;/sp&gt;a new era for her Umbric abilities.
